The Blue Owl Restaurant and Bakery is honored to present the 7th Annual Kimmswick 5K! This event will take place on August 19, 2017 at 8am; and will, as always, support the fight against ALS.
As many of you know, friends, the Kimmswick 5K began out of a desire to help a very dear friend and her family. Nancy Ratliff was diagnosed with ALS in 2009, and quickly became unable to move, eat, or speak. Her family, friends, and community supported her as she bravely fought the disease for seven years. Sadly, in May of 2016, Nancy passed away, but her memory and inspiring legacy lives on. We continue to raise awareness of ALS and help realize the dream of a cure for this debilitating disease. Each year the race has raised over $20,000, increasing to over $30,000 for the past three years. This year, our goal is $35,000.
Runners in the Kimmswick 5K keep their eyes on the pies! The top overall male and female finishers receive our famous Levee High Apple Pies, and the top three in each age group will receive fresh fruit pies. The beautiful course takes runners through historic Kimmswick, along the Mississippi River, the Anheuser Estate, and the Windsor Harbor Bridge, the oldest known wrought iron bridge in Missouri.
After the run, there’s much fun to be had; food, beer, refreshments, music, raffle, silent auction, attendance prizes, shopping, face painting and more. This promises to be a fabulous day! I do hope that you’ll join us. There’s still time to register, but time is running out to be ensured a commemorative t-shirt. In the meantime, remember that Dreams Really Do Come True!
All My Love,
