It’s so hard to believe that by the end of this week, we will turn the calendar page over to welcome September. Before we know it, we’ll be wearing sweaters and enjoying pumpkin-flavored everything. But before we move on to next month, I must first stop and express my gratitude for a simply amazing August.

It was a beautiful month here in Kimmswick. We enjoyed cooler than expected temperatures, with very few of our typical “dog days” of summer. Many people to enjoy all that our area has to offer, and we were thrilled to see both familiar and new faces. School began, much to the chagrin of students everywhere, who are all now settling in to a pleasant routine.

On Saturday, August 19, we were honored to take part in the annual Kimmswick 5K. God blessed us with gorgeous weather for the day. Greg Ratliff, Jason and Christine Ratliff and their daughter Georgia were very much a part of the ALS Fundraiser dedicated to the Memory of Nancy Ratliff, their wife, mother, and grandmother. Dan Gray of Fox 2 was the Emcee for the event. We love the theme “Keep Your Eyes on the Pies!” The Levee High Apple Pie is stenciled on the streets of Kimmswick and the runners follow the pies to the finish line! Fredbird was here to present the trophies to all the winners. The trophies are, of course, delicious Blue Owl pies.

We are so thrilled to announce that we raised over $24,000 to aid in the fight against ALS. Thank you so much to everyone who participated and helped make the event a great success. Thanks to all the volunteers, the sponsors, the vendors who donated goods for the boxed lunches, the runners and walkers, and Blue Owl staff that volunteered their time to make and serve the boxed lunches for all the participants.

Everyone knows what happened in our area on August 21, right? It was such a joy to meet people from all over the world who came to the Solar Eclipse Experience in Kimmswick (SEEK). Words cannot describe how amazing it was to observe the phenomenon, and to be able to do so with my dear friends, family, Blue Owl family, community and visitors. It made the whole experience all the more wonderful!

Thank you to all for a great August! As we enter September, always remember that Dreams Really Do Come True!

All My Love,
