I have so much to share with all of you this week. First of all, I am so thankful that my Dad’s cataract surgery went well! My brothers and sisters, my husband and I were his “bodyguards,” there to support him and provide him with plenty of TLC and home cooking. Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers. The spiritual support helped all of us! I am so appreciative to all of you for your prayers and concern.
I am also happy to report some exciting news! We are so happy to welcome Brenda back to our Blue Owl Family! She has worked as a Server at the Blue Owl for 20 years, and after a 9 month departure, is returning as our Front of the House Manager. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to see Brenda taking on this important role; she has been a dedicated employee as server, baker, candy maker, Apple Butter Tent coordinator . . . a talented and appreciated individual, who truly understands The Blue Owl’s heart-based culture, philosophy, and ambience.
We also welcome, Matt, who has been promoted to our Back of the House Manager and Head Cook. There is no doubt that Matt will bring scrumptious new offerings to our menu and continue to ensure that our meals are freshly prepared with the love and care each customer has come to know and deserve.
As always, we are blessed at The Blue Owl, serving over 1,000 people this last weekend!!! We love and appreciate our customers, and we love serving our community. With that said, mark your calendars, as there are many events taking place in the near future!
Now is the time to sign up for our 5Kimmswick 5K and 1-mile Fun Run on August 4th. This is a cause that is beyond worthy; we are raising money for the ALS Foundation and for the Nancy Ratliff Medical Fund. So many Sponsors have stepped forward to support our event: MSG Jewelers, Carol House Furniture, Express Mart and more! We are so thankful to be surrounded by these many caring companies, and so touched by those that come and participate for the day.
Our Kimmswick community is participating in 100 Days of Shoes. The goal is to collect 100,000 pairs of shoes for the needy before October 31st. Bring one pair (or more!) of gently used shoes to The Blue Owl between July 24 – July 31 and receive $1 off your lunch!
Finally, get ready for our 2nd Annual Witches Night Out, scheduled for Saturday, October 13th! This is one of my all time favorite events in Kimmswick; at last year’s event everyone was doing the “cha cha” and the “electric slide” in full blown witches attire – it was awesome! I wanted to let you know that online ticket sales were launched this past Friday the 13th (no kidding!). We already have a number of registrations. Last year 1200 “witches” graced our streets, and since this year’s event will take place on a Saturday night, we expect to see even more witches in fabulous dress, ready to kick up their heels! Dining at The Blue Owl (make your reservations early!), Shopping Passports, Music and Dancing in the streets, Scavenger Hunt, Prizes for Best Witch’s Costume, Best Witch’s Hat , Best Witch’s Broomstick, and more will make this evening an unforgettable event! Check out photos from last year at the online Photo Gallery!
I am so thankful for our many blessings… Dad’s successful surgery, a dedicated and supportive Blue Owl Staff, amazing individuals joining our Blue Owl Management Team, working side by side with my precious daughter, Kim, our General Manager, sponsoring and taking part in events that touch our hearts and uplift our friends and family! Once again I can say with great confidence that “Dreams Really Do Come True!”
All My Love
