Recently I was asked to stop by KMOV’s Great Day St. Louis to honor General Manager Allan Cohen’s retirement. He served as General Manager for over 32 years!!! Allan has made our channel 4 one of the most watched CBS stations in the nation. Even though he is a busy executive, he has always found the time to support countless charitable causes. Allan leaves some very big shoes to fill and he will be missed. May he and his wife Roberta enjoy their retirement, they so deserve it!!!
When I appeared on Great Day St. Louis I was there to surprise Allan with his favorite cookie – Fudgy Chocolate Cherry Cookies. On the show I said that perhaps we should even change the name of them to Allan Cohen Cookies!!! Here is the recipe for these wonderful cookies:
Fudgy Chocolate Cherry Cookies
1 ½ cup flour ½ cup butter, softened
½ cup cocoa 1 cup sugar
¼ tsp salt 1 egg
¼ tsp baking powder 1 ½ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp baking soda
6 oz semisweet chocolate chips
½ cup sweetened condensed milk
1 jar maraschino cherries
Stir together flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Beat together butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients, beating until well blended. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down center of each ball with thumb. Drain cherries, reserving 4 teaspoons juice. Place cherry or cherry half in center of each cookie. In small saucepan, combine chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Heat until chocolate is melted. Stir in 4 teaspoons cherry juice. Spoon about 1 teaspoon frosting over each cookie, spreading to cover cherry. Bake in 350 degree oven about 10 minutes or until done. Cool a few minutes before removing to wire rack. About 48 cookies.
Allan, I know today is your last day at GM at KMOV. Thank you for your service to our community. You are another wonderful example that Dreams Really Do Come True.
All My Love
