“It’s Fall Y’all!” Well, almost. September brings the beginning of cooler weather, changing colors and the many wonderful celebrations that autumn brings. In Kimmswick, we celebrate the beginning of the season with a lovely event: Shop ‘til Tea – It’s Fall Y’all!
When tea parties come to mind, one often thinks of darling little girls, all dressed up in their mothers’ hats and pearls, pouring pretend cups of tea for their dolls and stuffed animals. Adult tea parties aren’t quite as common these days, but were once a common social outing. A traditional tea is usually held in the afternoon, a chance for old friends to gather and catch up over small treats and a delicious warm drink. Often tea parties involved a guest of honor, such as a new arrival to the neighborhood or a dear friend visiting from out of town.
Around here, we have a slightly different way of hosting a Tea Party. Instead of having a short party, we celebrate all day and we add one of our favorite activities, shopping! Shopping in Kimmswick is such fun. You’ll find wonderful items, whether you enjoy antiques, crafts, or more modern fare.
Shop ‘til Tea will be held on Saturday, September 17. Begin your day here at The Blue Owl. Drop in between 9:30 -10:00am for a warm welcome. We’ll serve you a delicious cup of warm coffee to give you energy for the day. You’ll also receive a shopping passport, with discounts at our many area stores.
From 10:00- 3:00pm, you’ll be free to explore this charming town and all we have to offer. Fill your passport by stopping in at every one as each holds its own unique treasures. Wrap up your day at 3:00pm for our Tea Party on The Blue Owl Veranda. Relax with your beverage and a delicious Blue Owl Dessert Sampler, and join in on laughter and chat about the day. We will also have prizes – it’s a day you’ll never forget.
