Nancy is a long time customer and friend; a beautiful Christian woman who was always very involved with church and family. Nancy has ALS, she shared this information with me soon after being diagnosed. I have watched this disease first affect her hands and arms, then quickly spread throughout her body and take over her life, as well as the lives of her family.
Though ALS has taken over her body, it has not taken over her spirit. Her eyes sparkle! There is so much love in those eyes, you can both see and feel it. A couple of years ago she came into The Blue Owl to celebrate her daughter’s birthday. The picture posted at this blog is one taken of Nancy and I on that day, it is one of my most cherished pictures!
I now reach out to my dear community and ask that you take part in The Blue Owl Restaurant and Bakery’s effort to raise funds to fight ALS. Mark your calendars now and come on over to Kimmswick on August 4th, 2012 to participate in our 5Kimmswick Second Annual 5K and 1-mile Walk and Fun Run.
Last year we were told to expect about 150 people for this event. We ended up with over 700! This year we look to build on that success and raise even more funds, as well as more awareness. A portion of the money raised will go to ALS, with some of this money going directly to the Ratliff family. The medical expenses to the family are overwhelming; and Nancy requires round the clock care.
Register now to be a part of this amazing event! There will be prizes and, of course, good home cooked food and bakery items from The Blue Owl. In the meantime we need your prayers; we need prayers for good weather for the day, and for dear Nancy and her loved ones.
We at The Blue Owl are dedicated to Nancy and her family. We ask that you too come to share in the spirit and help others realize that Dreams Really Do Come True.
All My Love
