In just over a week, we will be celebrating another Thanksgiving! I just love all the holidays, but Thanksgiving is one of my favorites; there is nothing better than gathering with friends and family to express our great gratitude and eat delicious food! In preparation for the big day, we’ll all be so busy that there will be little time for writing or reading blogs. So today, I want to share a few things for which I am very thankful.

  • My Family. When I count my blessings, I count my family many times! I am so grateful for my darling husband Jerry, our wonderful children, all of our amazing grandchildren, my dear Daddy, and all my brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. I cherish each moment I spend with them and each memory is written on my heart.
  • My Friends. If I were to name the names of those friends most special to me, I would fill this blog and many others. Where would any of us be without friends, those who lighten our loads and brighten our lives? Whether we are lifelong companions or social media connections, please know that I value you.
  • My Community. I have been blessed to be part of Kimmswick for many years and have experienced such a sense of community throughout the years. From the days of my little homemade kitchen and the opening of The Blue Owl, to the flood of ’93 when we pulled together with many others to save our town, to the wonderful events enjoyed by thousands of people each year, there is no better place to call home.
  • Pie! Of course, I’m thankful for pie, and I’m very thankful that around here, we don’t need a special occasion to celebrate with a slice of everyone’s favorite dessert. Whether you love traditional pumpkin, perfect pecan, or Oprah’s favorite Caramel Pecan Levee High Apple Pie, sweet treats abound at Thanksgiving time. Scrumptious, hearty, homemade food is as much a part of my life as oxygen, and for that, I am grateful.

As I reflect upon the many blessings in my life, these are just a few of my favorites. No matter what has come your way this year or what may be to come, I do so hope that you will take the time the be thankful for your many blessings. On Thanksgiving and every day, I am so very thankful for the truth that Dreams Really Do Come True!

All my love,

~Mary
