Many times when I sit to write to you, my friends, I am bursting with excitement to share all the wonderful events coming up in Kimmswick! I cannot tell you how blessed I feel to live in a community that offers so much to do. This past weekend we welcomed more than 30,000 visitors to our charming town to celebrate Strawberry Festival. Then, of course, this week we will have Dinner with Mary (yes, that’s me), Kid’s Karaoke, Dine Out for the Cure, Shop for the Cure, and Windsor P.R.I.D.E. Movie Night. We’ll round out June with the Father’s Day Car Show and the Annual Daylily Sale.

But that’s not actually all that I wanted to share today, since my last blog detailed many of these events. Today, I want to share with you an exciting idea: Staycationing. You may have heard of it before; it gained popularity when the economy declined a few years ago and folks saved money by being tourists in their own cities and towns. Though money may have been the reason “staycation” became a word, the concept hasn’t gone away. If you are from our area, you know that Kimmswick has much to offer, as does St. Louis, which is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. You can have lunch at The Blue Owl and be at the Gateway Arch in about 30 or so minutes!

Did you know that Wallethub recently named St. Louis one of the Top 10 Cities in which to staycation? This is based upon the area’s recreation, food, entertainment, and opportunities for R&R. Local families and those visiting can find several free activities, such as the world-class St. Louis Zoo, museums, and more.  The area abounds with wonderful parks, nature trails, and drives, as well as opportunities to experience art, music, and theater! Oh, and did I mention sports? St. Louis is well known as the best sports town anywhere. Summer is not complete until you have cheered on our beloved Cardinals. The new Busch Stadium is fabulous, and Ballpark Village is a must-see for summer fun.

So, whether you are from Kimmswick, St. Louis, or halfway across the globe, I am certain that you will not run out of things to do around here! Where else can you experience the small-town charm of Kimmswick and the big-city excitement that St. Louis offers?

I hope that we see you soon, and that you remember “Dreams Really Do Come True!”

All My Love,

~Mary
