Summer is on the way, bringing with it barbecues, picnics, and lots of on-the-go activities. We have so many events that we are sure you will enjoy: Strawberry Festival, a Father’s Day Car Show, Kids Karaoke, and more. I’ll share much more about these events in a future blog, but I wanted to take this moment to personally invite you to our charming town. We love meeting new friends and watching folks enjoy this little piece of heaven called Kimmswick!

As your social calendar fills, you may find yourself with numerous requests to bring a dish to share.  Of course, if you’re assigned to bring dessert, you can always arrange to pick up a delicious bakery item from one of our three locations, or just drop by and see what we have in store.

If you like to do it yourself, allow me to offer you a few time saving tips:

  • When making deviled eggs, place your yolks, mayonnaise, mustard and spices into a Ziplock bag.  Mash and mix together in the bag. Snip off the corner and pipe the mixture into the egg whites.  Cleanup doesn’t get any easier than that.
  • When baking, line measuring cups with Saran Wrap before scooping in peanut butter, shortening, or other sticky ingredients, this will make cleanup a breeze.
  • Parchment paper is a bakers’ best friend, as it prevents sticking.
  • Hull small strawberries by pushing a clean straw through the middle.
  • Freeze slices of lemon, lime, or oranges for adding to water or tea for a delicious summer treat that is also good for you.  The more adventurous among you may enjoy berries or other fruits.
  • Fresh tomatoes make the best salsas and sauces.  To make peeling easy, drop the tomatoes into boiling water for a minute. Remove carefully and place into cold water until cool; the peel will just slide off by hand.

I hope you enjoy all your summer gatherings and meals, as well as the preparation.  As you socialize and celebrate, do remember that “Dreams Really Do Come True!”

All My Love,
~Mary
