We are very blessed to be a part of so many special days: birthdays, holidays, showers, and, of course weddings! It is such a joy to add our special touch to a day that will be remembered forever by a newly married couple, their family, and their friends. This is why we are so excited to be a part of The Wedding Show presented by St. Louis Bride & Groom Magazine on Sunday, August 2, at the America’s Center.

Are you wondering what you might see at this event? We will have a fabulous display, and you will view many gorgeous dresses in the fashion show. Vendors from all over the area will have ideas for everything you need to create the wedding of your dreams. Plus, over 20 Etsy Shop Owners will be on hand with unique items and DIY Product Demos.

You are sure to see everything that has been or soon will be trending, including these ideas to consider:

Go local. Brides and grooms across the country are saving money and reflecting their home area by using local food, native seasonal flowers, and the drinks that represent them best. Think private label wine or beer from a nearby winery or brewery instead of a large open bar.

Express yourself. Nontraditional is the new tradition. Many couples are opting for unique when it comes to the ceremony, music, décor, and food. Wedding Cakes no longer have to be formal and fancy, though they still can be. Couples are choosing to show their personalities with themes including sports and superheroes.

Less is more. Many couples are ditching the formal sit-down meal and replacing it with smaller portions of their favorite foods. Make-your-own food bars with tacos, mac ‘n cheese, or hot dogs are becoming popular. Late night snacks are also commonly seen, such as pizza or cookies and milk. Dessert buffets have been the rage for a few years now, and they aren’t going anywhere. This is a trend we love, just as guests love to see our dessert shooters, cupcakes, and cuppie pies on the table.

Something old and something new. Whether it’s music or décor, we’re seeing many new takes on traditional items. This is true when it comes to cakes as well. Ruffles, ribbons, and flowers abound, but often with new twists on color, including metallic icing. One new trend is to go “naked,” with minimal or no icing.

One for the road. Monogrammed tokens are out when it comes to wedding favors. Edible is in! Send your guests home with something they will truly love, such as a cuppie pie, slice of pie, or cookie.
