Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Friends, I am so excited to announce that The Blue Owl was recently featured in The Wall Street Journal! That’s right, our famous Levee High Apple Pie® appears in The Wall Street Journal Spring 50.

You’re familiar with The WSJ, of course, which is known for breaking news, investigative reporting, business coverage and features. Founded in 1889, it has 20 million digital readers and 1.4 million subscribers. The Spring 50 feature is described as a “stylish guide to 50 huge trends and tiny finds in fashion, travel, food, design and gear—from voluminous coats to diminutive drones, monster pies to modest watches, and more.” It is part of the Off Duty feature of The WSJ, a guide to the best things in life; including travel, food and drink.

The Levee High Apple Pie® is called “a delicious monument to the town [of Kimmswick’s] survival and an engineering feat in its own right.” The WSJ makes sure to mention how this pie is created from 18 Golden Delicious Apples piled high in a homemade crust; it measures 9” high and weighs 8-10 pounds. Our fans know the story well, as this spectacular dessert began as a tribute to the sandbagging efforts that saved Kimmswick from the flood of 1993. We are truly honored to be able to continue to share this remarkable story and amazing pie all over the world.

Of course, The Blue Owl is no stranger to the spotlight. In 2006, Jamie and Bobby Deen brought their Food Network Show “Road Tasted” and featured our Famous Levee High Apple Pie® with Caramel Pecan Topping. In 2007, Paula Deen’s staff invited me as a guest to “Paula’s Party,” filmed in Savannah, Georgia. In 2010, The Travel Channel featured us on a show called Pie Paradise!.  In 2011, The Blue Owl Levee High Apple Pie® was chosen as One of Oprah’s Favorite Things in O Magazine and by OWN, The Oprah Network. Our mail-order desserts were also recommended as a top gift pick by The Today Show. Last but not least, we receive so much love from our local news stations. I greatly enjoy my visits, both on and off air, and I am very grateful for the continued love from the St. Louis area.

It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen by The Wall Street Journal for this feature. Of course, there’s nothing like a slice of the Levee High Apple Pie® in person. If you can’t stop in, you can always have it shipped to you, ready to bake and enjoy.

My, oh my, how far we have come, dear friends! This is really, truly proof that Dreams Really Do Come True!

All My Love,
