If you live in our area, you will no doubt be amazed at the beauty of the autumn leaves; many trees are showing off some amazing colors.

October is breezing past us as quickly as the leaves will soon fall. Thank you to all those who worked so very hard to make last weekend’s Witches Night Out event a success! I am ever so impressed by the creative costumes of the thousands of good and bad witches who haunted the streets of our little town. You can see many pictures on their Facebook page or by searching ‪#‎hk2015wno.

As the spooky spells of the past weekend drift away, another fall event looms on the horizon. We simply cannot wait for the annual Apple Butter Festival, which takes place on October 24 and 25. Over 100,000 people visit our charming little neck of the woods to celebrate a delicious fall treat! The event features great music, including bluegrass, country rock, and dulcimer music. Around 600 food, drink and craft vendors will line our streets and The Blue Owl parking lot. You are sure to find many treats to enjoy and something delightful to take home with you. It may even be time to start your holiday shopping (gasp!). Children will adore the petting zoo, the miniature train, and pony rides. They will also get to see how apple butter is made and can help stir, as the apples are cooked for 7 to 8 hours in a kettle over a wood fire. What an experience!

Just a note about the busy, busy-ness of this event: As you can imagine, our small historic town is not able to accommodate over 100,000 people driving about. Options are to catch a shuttle at Windsor High School or park along K and walk, though parking is limited at this location. Get full details about parking or being a vendor on the event page. Also, please understand that we are unable to take reservations during this event, but we do hope that you’ll stop in and enjoy a wonderful meal and a delicious dessert.

May you enjoy your fall! I hope to see you soon in Kimmswick, whether at the Apple Butter Festival or when you stop by for a treat! Take a drive and enjoy the beautiful foliage, and while doing so remember that Dreams Really Do Come True!

All My Love,

~Mary
